BAYTOWN VETERANS DAY CEREMONY

A Veterans Day Ceremony will be held Saturday, November 11 at the Veterans’ Memorial Plaza, located at 1001 Market Street in front of Bicentennial Park.  The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m.

November 11 is a national holiday in many of the Allied nations, most commonly known as "Armistice Day" or "Remembrance Day." Ceremonies are typically held on "the eleventh hour on the eleventh day of the eleventh month," a solemn remembrance that commemorates the exact hour, day and month that World War I officially ended, with the signing of an armistice in Compiegne, France.

In 1954, President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed a bill into law changing the official name to Veterans Day in the United States, and declaring the date as an opportunity to celebrate all veterans.

In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved to the Baytown Community Center, located at 2407 Market Street.  For additional information, please contact Baytown Parks and Recreation at (281) 420-6597.
