City Earns 25th Consecutive Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting

The City of Baytown's dedication to full financial disclosure is evidenced by its participation in the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Program.

The GFOA awarded a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to the City of Baytown for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the fiscal year ended September 30, 2016. This was the 25th consecutive year that the City has received this prestigious award. In order to be awarded a Certificate of Achievement, the City must publish an easily readable and efficiently organized CAFR. This report must satisfy both generally accepted accounting principles and applicable legal requirements.

Both the award winning 2016 CAFR and the most recent 2017 CAFR are available online at http://www.baytown.org/city-hall/departments/finance/financial-reports.

“A Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting is valid for a period of one year,” said Finance Director Wade Nickerson.  “We believe that the 2017 CAFR continues to meet the Certificate of Achievement Program's requirements, and are submitting it to the GFOA to determine its eligibility for another certificate.”
