ICC Use of Force

This course is designed to provide background in terminology and concepts of the use of force including deadly force. It shall provide information regarding factors and situations where force may be likely, as well as the criteria wherein the officer may respond. TCLEOSE mandated core course designed for officers who are seeking to fulfill the requirements for their intermediate peace officer certificate. Class size is limited to 30 students. Students need to bring copy of their Department’s “Use of Force” policy and their penal code book!
Class will be held at the Baytown Police Academy 203 E. Wye Drive. Class hours are 8:00am – 5:00pm.

ICC Arrest, Search & Seizure

This course will instruct the officer in the practical and legal requirements of search / seizure, no warrant, and / or arrest procedures. General topics to be addressed in the course include: probable cause, detention and arrest, search warrants, exceptions to search warrants and suppression hearings and civil liability. TCLEOSE mandated core course designed for officers who are seeking to fulfill the requirements for their intermediate peace officer certificate. Class size is limited to 30 students. Class will be held at the Baytown Police Academy 203 E. Wye Drive.

Cultural Diversity & Special Investigative Topics

Cultural Diversity and Special Investigative Topics are courses mandated by TCLEOSE. All officers are required to take the courses once every 4 years. Cultural Diversity will educate the officer to different types of cultures they may encounter. Special Investigative topics are comprised of five sections: child abuse and neglect; family violence; sexual assault; sex offenders; and general legislative changes. Class size is limited to 25 students. Course location will be the Baytown Police Academy, located at 203 E. Wye Drive. This is a two day course and class hours are 8:00am-5:00pm.

WMD/Suicide Bombings - FREE

Incident Response to Terroristic Bombing &
Prevention and Response to Suicide Bombing Incidents (P.R.S.B.I.)

The goal of this course is to prepare emergency responders to perform effectively during incidents of terrorism involving energetic materials and to provide participants with sufficient knowledge of suicide bombings so they can become a part of their agency's overall prevention, deterrence, mitigation, and response effort to this threat. This course will include: Defining the Suicide Bombing Threat; Information Collection, Indications, and Warnings; and Legal and Personal Protection Issues. Class will be held at the Baytown Police Academy 203 E. Wye Drive. Class hours are 8:00am – 5:00pm (8 hours).

Court Security Critical Incident & Emergency Planning for Courts

Recent tragic events involving the judiciary and support elements of the judicial process have graphically illustrated the vulnerability of judges, bailiffs, witnesses and other concerned parties from armed attacked and hostage situations within courtroom environment. Upon close scrutiny, inadequate courtroom security or the absence of security has been identified as causative factors: consequently, the following course has been structured to assist courtroom security personnel in the design, implementation and evaluation of a sound security system. Class will be held at the Baytown Police Academy 203 E. Wye Drive. Class hours are 8:00am – 5:00pm
