Karate

This program will teach the art, sport, kidnapping awareness, self-defense and self-confidence aspects of American Karate. It is a year round program. The same certified instructors since 1995. Try the first class for free to make sure you wish to sign up. Sign up your child and attend the class for free! Free Chair Yoga

Chair yoga is a gentle form of yoga that is practiced sitting on a chair, or standing using a chair for support. Chair yoga student are usually unable to participate in a traditional yoga class due to the effects of aging or disabilities. However, Chair yoga is a great practice for everyone, as it deepens flexibility and strengthens personal body awareness.

Pound

 

Channel your inner rock star with this full-body cardio jam session, inspired by drumming. Using lightly weighted exercise drumsticks, torch calories and tone while rocking out to your favorite music! All you need is your mat!

Town Square Fitness

 

Free Yoga
Classes maintain awareness and focus on the breath while moving through a series of positions. The sequence of postures may be different from class to class, but always follow and intelligent progression that moves from basic to complex.

Dance Fitness is a group exercise that incorporates many forms of dance moves with a full body workout. Learn some new moves and get the results you want. Don't forget your water!

Free Pound Fitness Class
Using the included ripstix, lightly weighted drumsticks engineered specifically for exercising, Pound transforms drumming into incredibly effective way of working out. designed for all fitness levels, Pound provides the perfect atmosphere for letting loose, toning up and rockin' out! The workout is easily modifiable and the alternative vibe and welcoming philosophy appeals to men and women of all ages and abilities.

Town Square Sidewalk Art Contest

Contest Date: April 28th

Application Deadline: April 23 at 12 pm

Competition: 2 pm-6 pm

Judging: 6 pm- 7 pm

Awards: 7:30 pm

Application Cost: $5

Guidelines:

One entry per person.

Must be 14 years or older to submit an application.

Artwork must be appropriate for family friendly public viewing.

Artwork will avoid political statements, advertising, and profanity.

Artwork will not violate any copyright laws.

Artists will be assigned a 5 ft. x 5 ft. block to create an original piece of art using chalk. We will provide a 24 color box of chalk, but artists are encouraged to bring their own chalk, blending tools, etc. No paint is allowed. Blocks are assigned on a first-come first-serve basis and consist of a random section of Town Square; some blocks may have cracks, color or texture variations.

A first, second, and third place prize will be awarded. A people’s choice prize will also be awarded. Individuals who attend the Food Truck Festival and Sidewalk Art Contest are encouraged to purchase tickets and drop them in their favorite artists buckets. Tickets will be available for $1. All money raised will benefit the Art League of Baytown’s Rising Stars, a special needs art class for adults.

Students who are participating from the Goose Creek Independent School District will have the opportunity to bring back the Most Creative High School Award to their school.

There will be a designated section for children under the age of 14 who would like to chalk.

Please note that competition space is limited. So early registration is encouraged.

If this event is rained out, a reschedule date will be provided.

Baytown Tourism and Baytown Parks and Recreation retains the right to photograph any and all artwork and to use theses images to promote future events. We will be taking photographs during the contest and all artists agree to be photographed for marketing purposes

Application Must Include:

Artist sketch must be emailed to sabrina.martin@baytown.org after their application has been submitted to Eventbrite. You will receive an email response back once your artwork has met all guidelines and been approved. On the day of the contest only the approved artwork or close facsimile must be drawn.
