Baytown PD Administrative Information

The Administrative Bureau consists of the Chief of Police, his Administrative Assistant and his Legal Advisor. Collectively, with the Bureau Commanders, it makes and administers policy for the Department.

Bureau Commanders head the individual bureaus within the Department and answer to the Chief of Police. The three commanders hold the rank of Assistant Chief. Two Assistant Chiefs are appointed and one is Civil Service tested. Current Bureau Commanders are as follows:

The Chief of Police is responsible for overall supervision of the Department. He is the chief policy maker and decision maker for the Department. The Internal Affairs Unit reports directly to the Chief of Police.

The Legal Advisor advises the Chief of Police and the Department on legal issues affecting the Department. The Legal Advisor is assigned to the Department by the Legal Department head at City Hall and serves until recalled.
