CRIME ALERT!!!
Please be advised that there is an unidentified middle-eastern male, approximately 6’1”, 22-29 years old, black hair, wearing a tan waterproof jacket and overalls, with a grey metal clipboard walking around the area of Ward Rd., Alexander, Narcille, James Bowie general area, posing as a Baytown employee.
The subject does NOT have a Baytown identification card but appears “very convincing” when communicating with primarily the elderly citizen but others as well.
The modis operandi: He knocks on the door and when answered he says:
“I work for Baytown and we are in the process of removing all overhead wires and placing them underground. Can I check your backyard?" When the unsuspecting victim escorts him to the backyard another unidentified male breaks into the home.
Baytown Employees are in uniform or at minimum have identification and are in a marked City of Baytown vehicle. Also, most of those lines belong to someone else and the City would not move them. 281-422-8371, call and verify and be safe!
WHO DAT???
Help us identify these two black male suspects in the armed robbery of Shay's Jewelry store on Wednesday 12-05-2012. Shays Jewelers is located in the heavily populated Kroger shopping center on Garth Rd in Baytown near Baker Road. They entered the controlled access store separately and pretended to shop. The man in the tie and silver rimmed glasses (suspect #1) asked for a credit application and began filling it out with what appears to be false information while the man in the tan "Southpole" shirt/blue jeans (suspect #2) went to the back of the store; BOTH then produced handguns. Suspect #1 had the manager fill a yellow bag he brought with him (had a drawstring) with necklaces and rings. Suspect #2 corralled other employees in the back of the store and zip tied their hands. He also took a DVR security recorder with him as both fled out of the back door, west through the grass field, possibly to the parking area of the Altus medical complex on Baker Rd. These suspects do not appear to be related to other robberies in Baytown. Case number is 2012-47922.
Call Crime Stoppers at 281-427-8477 (TIPS) or send tips through Baytown Crime Stoppers' Anonymous Web Tip Information System, Tips On Line or TEXT "Baytown + your tip" to "CRIMES" (274637). Crime Stoppers pays cash to pay for Christmas and you WILL remain anonymous!

PRESS RELEASE
2012-41209
On the evening of October 19th, police were notified of a theft that had just occurred at Sears located in the 6900 block of Garth Road. A female, later identified as JENKINS, JENNIFER RENE W/F 08/31/1977 was alleged to have stolen pillows and a comforter before entering a grey Ford truck bearing Texas 25ZSV7 driven by a male. The male, later identified as CHAUNCEY, SHANNON JOE W/M 10/06/1969 was seen driving the truck away from Sears and pulling into a nearby Academy parking lot. Police detectives located the unoccupied truck in the Academy parking lot. A detective entered the store and observed Jenkins and Chauncey inside the store. Jenkins was seen placing merchandise inside of a bag. Chauncey walked out of the store empty-handed and entered the Ford truck before pulling it to the front of the store to pick up Jenkins. As Jenkins exited the store with unpaid for merchandise, detectives blocked the Ford from leaving with their vehicles. As detectives exited their vehicles to make arrests, Chauncey forcefully backed into a police vehicle, causing damage and narrowly missing an officer before speeding out of the parking lot. Marked police units pursued the fleeing vehicle south on Garth . A pursuit lasting approximately 2.5 miles occurred before Chauncey struck a car and a truck at the intersection of Garth Road and Rollingbrook. Both Chauncey’s truck and the car he struck caught fire. Chauncey and Jenkins fled the accident scene on foot and were arrested by officers after a brief foot pursuit. The 17 year old driver of the car that was struck was flown to Hermann Hospital where he is in critical condition. The 16 year old passenger of the car, Baytown resident Shawn Williams, died at the scene. Two adults in the truck that was struck received minor injuries. Chauncey and Jenkins were hospitalized with minor injuries. Charges of Felony 2 Evading Arrest Resulting in Death and Felony 3 Evading Arrest Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury are being filed on Chauncey. Charges of Misdemeanor B Evading, Theft and Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) are pending against Jenkins.
