The City of Baytown, the Baytown/Chambers County LEPC and the Harris County Office of Emergency Management have teamed up to train area residents interested in participating in a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). To help communities better deal with disaster, the CERT program is an all-risk, all-hazard training designed to help citizens protect their homes, family, neighbors and neighborhoods in an emergency situation.
The CERT training program consists of 8 sessions covering disaster preparedness, fire suppression, basic disaster medical operations, first aid, light search and rescue, disaster psychology, team organization, and terrorism. Classes begin September 20th and are held each Tuesday evening from 6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. at the Baytown EOC.
