
The Baytown Municipal Court’s hours of operation are Monday - Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Arraignments are conducted Monday at 1:30 pm and Thursday at 9:00 am and 1:30 pm. Any matter requiring an appearance before the judge must be presented at that time.
The Baytown Municipal Court is to interpret and adjudicate applicable state laws and to support the local community by providing efficient and effective services through the promotion of justice.
Jurisdiction
Any Ticket or citation for a Class C misdemeanor that are issued by an officer of the City of Baytown will be filed in Baytown Municipal Court. In general, the Municipal Court has jurisdiction over offenses occurring within the city limits which are violations of municipal ordinances or violations of a state statute. Common city ordinance infractions include animal running at large, failure to maintain property, junk vehicles and alarm permit violations. Tickets filed with the Municipal Court are written by City Marshal’s Office, Baytown Police Department, Fire Marshal’s Office, Animal Control Officers, Health and Inspection Officials. The Municipal Court follows the procedures provided by statute to afford all court participants the rights guaranteed them under the Constitutions of the United States and the State of Texas.
