Matthew Chapa is a senior at Ross Sterling High School with an unweighted GPA of 4.0; raking him in the top 3% of his class. Matthew has been an active member of the National Honor Society for his 11th and 12th grade year volunteering for many service projects. In addition to the Honor Society, Matthew is a member of the Red Cross Club, Crime stoppers and the Spanish Club. He has been a member of the Varsity Swimming Team and the Water Polo Team for four years. He currently holds one varsity record and five freshman records and has been honored as an Academic All-American in Water Polo as well as making the 1st All Region team and 1st All State Team his junior year.
Matthew shows great interest in the community by volunteering at the Relay for Life, Bowie Fall Festival, ExxonMobil Day, YMCA and Crime stopper golf tournament and raffle fundraisers.
Matthew is an asset to our City and we honor him for his outstanding achievements and service to this community. We congratulate you on a job well done!

Kayla Wilson is a graduate of Ross Sterling High School graduating in the top 11% of her class. After being accepting by several outstanding universities Kayla has chosen to continue her education at Louisiana State University (LSU). In the meantime, she has already taken her first college English course at Lee College.
Kayla sets very high standards for herself and for that reason she is a high achiever. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Who’s Who Among American High School Students, Student Council, Key Club, Ranger Leaders, and Crimestoppers. She also volunteers in the community by assisting with the Relay for Life, Trash Off, Special Olympics and the Volleyball Club. Immediately following Hurricane Katrina she spent countless hours preparing and delivering home cooked meals to the hotels that were housing the evacuees.
Kayla is an asset to the entire City of Baytown. Today we honor her for her outstanding achievements and thank her for her desire to serve and give back to this community. We congratulate her and wish her the very best.

Joshua Jagnanan is a senior at Ross Sterling High School who has excelled in the area of academics by ranking in the top five of his graduating class. Joshua has received honors as a National Honor Roll student, Who’s Who Among American High School Students and the President’s Education Award for making all A’s during his high school career.
Joshua volunteers countless hours by assisting at St. James Nursing Home, Relay for Life, Christmas Toy Drive, Baytown Halloween Carnival, Baytown Special Rodeo, Special Olympics and the Ho Ho Ho Scavenger Hunt. He is the Senior Representative for the American Red Cross Club, Good Sportsmanship League, Student Council, President of Fellowship Christian Athletes, Ranger Leader, Texas Boys State Delegate and the recipient of the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Award. As President of the Key Club, Joshua has been the driving force behind the increase in membership and service projects. For this reason he was recently named the “Leader of Leaders” by the Texas Oklahoma District. He actively participates in the Psychology Club, the UIL Calculator Team, Mathematics Team, Science Team and the Christian Student Union. Joshua is also the Captain of the Ross Sterling Varsity Tennis Team where he has qualified for the Tennis Regionals.
Joshua is an asset to Sterling High School and the entire City of Baytown. Today we honor him for his outstanding achievements and thank him for his desire to serve and give back to this community. We congratulate him and wish him the very best in his future endeavors.

Yoanna Cantu is a senior at Robert E. Lee High School who has excelled in the area of academics as a National Honor Roll student. Yoanna is the head officer for the Robert E. Lee Celebrities, president of the Spanish Club, Student Council representative, head trainer for the National Hispanic Institute – Baytown Team, and a 4-Time All American Dancer. She was also the 2006 Homecoming Queen. Yoanna was honored with the invitation to participate in the 2006 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City and the National Hispanic Institute’s Collegiate World Series in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Yoanna has volunteered countless hours of community service by collecting food for the needy, participating in Relay for Life and assisting with the children at the Baytown Community Center immediately following Hurricane Katrina.
Yoanna is an outstanding asset to the Goose Creek Independent School District and the City of Baytown. Today we honor her for her hard work and dedication.

Ayla Casey | Ayla Casey is a senior at Robert E. Lee High School who has excelled in the area of academics as a Pre-AP student. Ayla stays active in Baytown by participating in various projects to help make a difference in the community. She has volunteered countless hours of community service by assisting with the YMCA Gator Ride, Special Olympics, Baytown Trash Off, Port Authority Trash Bash, YAC Senior Citizen Prom, Relay for Life, Special Rodeo, Goose Creek Job Fair, UNICEF, Christmas Adopt-a-Family, Friends Serving Friends, visiting nursing homes and striving to keep Lee Drive litter free.
Ayla is no stranger to leadership positions. She is a four year member of the Debate Team and currently serves as Captain. She is the President of the Key Club and Crime Stoppers, Historian of the National Honor Society and Chair of the Baytown Youth Advisory Commission.
Ayla is a caring and dedicated individual. Her strength is her character and her confidence in her abilities. She is extremely goal oriented, a self starter and continues to set and achieve her goals.

Eugene is a senior at Ross S. Sterling High School that is currently ranked in the top 10 of his graduating class. He has maintained all A's throughout his Elementary, Junior High and High School years. As a participant in UIL District he placed 2nd in Spelling and Vocabulary in 2004, 2005 and 2006. He also placed in Region and Boys State in 2006.
Eugene is very active in extracurricular activities such as the Band, Orchestra, Key Club, Red Cross, Spanish Club, National Honor Society, Good Sportsmanship League, Student Council and Hospitality ministries at the St. John Catholic Church. He is a Math tutor for 2nd graders and he has also gained experience and training with Insta Health Serviices, San Jacinto Hospital and the Baytown Sun as a Teen Reporter.

Shikha Yadav is a senior at Robert E. Lee High School. This year in AP Calculus, Statistics, Art History, European History, and Government, Shikha is one of the top students, making perfect scores on nearly every test. She has maintained all “A’s” throughout the years. She is the President of the Interact Club, Captain of the Varsity Tennis Team, Secretary of the Robotics Club, Section leader of the Orchestra, President of Mu Alpha Theta, member of Student Council, Good Sportsmanship League, National Honor Society, and Students against Drunk Driving, She also helps High School Aerospace Scholars at NASA recruit juniors to their summer intern program.
Shikha volunteers with Special Olympics, Relay for Life, Toys for Tots and donated food and clothes to various shelters during Hurricane Rita and Katrina.

Alyssa Linares is a senior at Ross Sterling High School; currently ranked #2 in her class. She has maintained all “A’s” from Kindergarten - 12th grade. She is the President of the National Honor Society, President of the Sterling Choir, Key Club member, National Hispanic Merit Scholar, Sterling Ranger Leader and a member of Who’s Who Among American High School Students. She received All Region Choir honors three years in a row and was nominated to Girl’s State.
Alyssa volunteers with Special Olympics, Mitzvah Day, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Relay for Life, Alzheimer’s Walk, School Fall Festival and the Red Cross. She also participate in service projects such as, school carnivals, car wash fundraisers and making holiday cards for those that are in hospitals and nursing homes.
Very active in sports, Alyssa, enjoys basketball, volleyball, tennis, and softball. She has played at many different levels with the YMCA and Sterling High School where she has served as team captain.

Kelli Sullivan is a senior at Ross Sterling High School who currently ranks #1 in her class. She is the President of the Key Club, Vice President of Student Council, Co-Historian of the National Honor Society, Band Drum Major and a Ranger Leader. As an officer in the National Honor Society, Keli has overseen and participated in many community projects that have raised thousands of dollars, such as Relay for Life, Katrina Relief Funds, UNICEF, Children’s Miracle Network and the Memory Walk.
Kelli is an outstanding scholar and leader. She is dedicated, hard working and excels in all things that she attempts. In her spare time, she enjoys visiting Remington House and spending time with her special elderly friends.

Tehniya Wadhwani is a senior at Ross Sterling High School who has excelled in the area of academics ranking #2 in her class with a 5.3 GPA. Tehniya is the Recording Secretary of the National Honor Society, Company Commander for the Marine Corp. ROTC, a member of the Baytown Balagokulam and a 4-year member of the Key Club. She has been honored with the Gold Key Winner - Scholastic Writing Award, the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen Award, 1st Place Overall for two consecutive years in the ROTC Military Skills Test, 2nd Place in the Optimist Club Essay Contest, she’s a member of Who’s Who Among American High School Students and the National Honor Roll. Tehniya speaks fluent Hindi and has volunteered with the Red Cross in India. She frequents nursing homes, participates in elementary school carnivals, donates canned goods for the homeless during Thanksgiving and volunteers countless hours at her church. Tehniya also volunteers with Amegy Bank assisting with collecting donations, Alzheimer Walk, Relay for Life and Habitat for Humanity. Because of her willingness to serve, in 2005, Tehniya received the President’s Volunteer Service Award for completing over 100 hours of community service.

Brian Fontenot is a junior at Ross Sterling High School who plans to graduate in 2007 with honors and pursue a double major in Electrical & Computer Engineering. Brian has maintained a level of academic excellence as an AP Scholar and has performed numerous hours of community service by participating in the Boy Scouts of America, Toy Drives, Top Teens of America, Meals on Wheels, March of Dimes, MD Anderson Cancer Center, UNICEF Walk-a-thon, Relay for Life, Mentoring for the 21st Century After School Program, Heartland Hospice Center and the Special Olympics. In 2004, Brian received the honor as an Eagle Scout of Troop 686. Brian is the Historian of the Symphonic Orchestra, a Webmaster, a Venture’s Scholar, a member of the Key Club, National Honor Roll, Who’s Who Among American High School Students, received the Presidential Volunteer Service Award and advanced to regional competition for short story in the Scholastic Writing Contest.

Keli Gentry - February, 2006 Keli Gentry is a senior at Ross Sterling High School who has excelled in the area of academics as a Distinguished Honor Roll AP Scholar with a 5.1 GPA. During the past four years, Keli has volunteered over 350 hours of community service by assisting with the Special Olympics, Alzheimer Walk, Relay for Life, UNICEF, Key Club, Cheerleading Camps, Kiwanis Apple Sales, Hurricane evacuee shelters, Ho Ho Ho Scavenger Hunt, Community Easter Egg Hunt and various other projects that benefit Baytown. To accompany her spirit of volunteerism, Keli has maintained straight A’s throughout her entire 12 years of school and is currently ranked #7 in her graduating class. She has been honored as a member of Who’s Who Among American High School Students for four years. She is a Ranger Leader, a member of the Good Sportsmanship League and Student Council, Head Cheerleader, Key Club Program Chair, President of Crime Stoppers, and a member of the National Honor Society. Keli has volunteered to decorate pillow cases for needy families, made Christmas cards for local nursing homes, assisted with elementary school carnivals and the sale of Hot Chocolate at the annual Christmas parade.

Cory Couch is a senior at Ross Sterling High School who has excelled in the area of academics as an AP Scholar with a 5.2 GPA. Over the past year, Cory has volunteered over 250 hours assisting with the Thanksgiving Dinner, Special Olympics, Alzheimer Walk, Relay for Life, YMCA Gator Ride, Goodfellows, Key Club, Scouts, church functions and various hurricane evacuee shelters. Cory is an Eagle Scout and the President of the National Honor Society. He also contributes to the Ross Sterling track, power-lifting and varsity football team, being a gold medalist in several track events. The Touchdown Club of Houston honored Cory at a luncheon for being one of the top scholar athletes in the greater Houston area. He was recently named to the Class 5-A Academic All State 1st team for his outstanding achievements. With all his athletics and volunteer work, Cory still manages to excel in the classroom. He is currently ranked #4 in his graduating class.
