Community Services

The Community Services Bureau handles Public Relations programs such as Crime-Stoppers, Citizen's Police Academy, and Crime Prevention programs from D.A.R.E. to physical security.  The Bureau handles other functions such as Personnel and Training.  Officers assigned to the Community Services Bureau can be reached by e-mail or telephone:

The Baytown Police Academy is responsible for the training of employees of the Baytown Police Department.  Training Courses include mandatory in-service training as well as specialty subjects ranging from criminal investigation to firearms proficiency.  The Academy routinely teaches a Basic Police Officer Course on-site.  Use our online form to contact the City of Baytown Police Department for more information.  Unless otherwise noted, Training Courses are available only to Certified Peace Officers.

Personnel issues and others involving Job Opportunities, Recruitment, the hiring of officers, their background investigations, and board interviews are handled by a senior officer who answers to the Sergeant. The Officer also handles all approvals for officers' off-duty employment.  The Red Light Camera Specialist reviews violations and assists in managing the project.
