Kennel Club Befriends Dog Park

July 29, 2009

A dog might be a man’s best friend, but the Baytown Kennel Club wants to be a local City park’s best friend. At the Baytown Kennel Club’s monthly meeting on August 3, the pooch-friendly club will discuss the formation of a “Friends of the Bark Park” committee. The meeting will take place at 7 p.m., at the Baytown fairgrounds on north main (7900 N. Main St.).

Similar to the Friends of the Nature Center, or Friends of the Library, the Friends of the Bark Park will take care of the park and host events, as well as fundraisers to help fund new projects.

“The Baytown Kennel Club’s vision and enthusiasm went a long way towards making our Bark Park a reality,” said Parks & Recreation Director Scott Johnson. “We’re pleased to have their continued support for the care and continued growth of the park.”

City staff, along with Friends of the Nature Center member Billy Barnett will be on hand to discuss the formation of the “Friends” group.

The Kennel Club meeting is open to the public. The agenda also includes a speaker who will discuss how to prepare yourself and your animals for a hurricane.
