Baytown Mayor Stephen DonCarlos recognized the City’s hardworking and dedicated Emergency Medical Services (EMS) employees this week with a proclamation declaring May 17-23 as Emergency Medical Services Week.
“EMS Week offers the community an opportunity to thank those men and women who train and work long hours to ensure that we receive the best pre-hospital care possible after an injury or illness,” said Health Department Director Mike Lester. “Recognition from the Mayor and our citizens is well deserved.”
From September 2007 to October 2008, Baytown EMS responded to a total of 8,190 calls: 2,515 for trauma, 748 cardiac related, and 4,927 general medical related. They transported a total of 5,052 patients to hospital.
The proclamation praises Baytown EMS for providing lifesaving care 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” and urges the community to recognize the vital services provided by area emergency physicians, emergency nurses, emergency medical technicians, and paramedics.
