Cary Bayou Trail Extension to Parkwood Street

The City of Baytown Parks and Recreation Department announces that construction will begin the week of March 10, 2008 for an extension of the Cary Bayou Trail from J.C. Hollaway Park to Parkwood Street. The extension will connect Hollaway Park and Walter Jenkins Park to Parkwood subdivision north of Cary Bayou along the west sidfe of Raccoon Drive.

The six foot wide concrete trail will provide a safe walkway to the Cary Bayou trail system that connects Jenkins and Hollaway Parks and the newly acquired 56 acre tract of land adjacent to the two parks. The trail will provide access to the recreation facilities and open space of over 100 acres along both sides of Cary Bayou.

The new trail follows the one of the goals of the Parks and Recreation Department to connect neighborhoods to parks. Future expansion of the trail will head south from Hollaway Park across the Cary Bayou bridge and provide safe access to the neighborhoods south of the park.
