Sterling Municipal Library is introducing a new way to help Baytonians boost their computer skills.
Individuals come to the library seeking help with a wide range of computer issues. Some people are interested in setting up an email account, some want to create a resume, and still others have never even used a mouse. Because the needs are so great and so diverse, it can be challenging for librarians to provide the right amount of help to everyone.
To meet the diverse technology needs, the Sterling Library has opened a Computer Assistance Lab. The Computer Assistance Lab offers individualized help with basic computer skills, Microsoft Office, Internet, and E-mail. The lab is staffed by a librarian and is open every Tuesday from 11:30am-1pm for assistance in English and from 1:15-2:45pm for assistance in Spanish.
There is no need to sign up, but computers in the lab are available on a first come, first served basis.
“We hope that anyone who is struggling with using a computer will take the opportunity to try out our new lab,” says librarian Cherie Morgan. “I think we will really be able to help people get over their fear of technology and will be able to provide them the tools they need to integrate computers into their daily lives.”
