Baytown Local Bus Service Celebrating Anniversary with Free Rides

Baytown’s local bus service will be free to all riders the week of Monday, August 10th through Friday, August 14th. The free service is being provided to recognize the first anniversary of the service begun in 2008.

Harris County Precinct Two Commissioner Sylvia R. Garcia says the local bus service -- a collaboration of Harris County Precinct Two, Harris County Transit, the City of Baytown and Lee College has been a success from the start.

The County’s Office of Transit Services reports that ridership has grown to an average of about 100 riders per day.

“We are all pleased to see a need being filled for the residents of Baytown,” Garcia said. “Working with the City and Lee College we are reducing the number of cars on the road and we are providing affordable transportation to those in need.”

The normal fare for the Monday-through-Friday service is one dollar for adults and 50-cents for children, the elderly and the disabled.
