As part of the City’s annual capital improvements program, portions of Garth Road are scheduled to be repaired beginning November 12th with completion of the project on November 29th. The repair project includes the removal and replacement of concrete road panels and the restoration of the correct elevation of these panels.
The City has retained the services of two contractors to complete the work involved with this project. The Public Works Street Division will direct the project.
The roadway repairs will be made to the outside lanes of Garth Road, south of Rollingbrook Drive. Work is expected to begin November 12th at 7:00 a.m. with the closure of an 800 foot segment of the southbound outer lane beginning at Rollingbrook. The work will continue on this segment through November 23rd when it will re-open to through traffic. The 800 foot segment of the northbound outer lane of Garth will then close. The northbound segment will re-open on November 29th with the completion of this project.
We urge all citizens to focus on safety in construction zones, observe posted speed limits, and observe construction zone signage. To avoid congestion and possible delays, motorists should consider using North Main as an alternate route. The City’s contractors will provide traffic safety markers and signage along the construction route to safely guide drivers around the construction area.
The City appreciates your patience during this construction period as we continue to work to improve the mobility for our citizens.
