Garth Road repairs to begin on Tuesday, June 3
May 30, 2008
The City of Baytown Public Works Department and its contractor, Teamwork Construction, will be making repairs to correct a recent pavement failure in the 2400 block of Garth Road beginning on Tuesday, June 3, 2008. The improvement project will require the City to close both southbound traffic lanes between Highway 146 frontage road and Schilling Avenue. Once the two southbound lanes have been repaired, they will be opened and the two adjacent northbound lanes will be closed for improvements. The City anticipates that the improvement project will be completed by June 10, 2008. Property owners in the construction area will have access to their property. Although a portion of the 2400 block of Garth Road will be open at all times, the Public Works Department suggests that people driving in the area during normal working hours may want to use alternate routes by utilizing Park Street and the Highway146 frontage roads.
City officials urge all drivers to focus on safety in construction zones, observe posted speed limits, and obey construction zone signage. The City appreciates the patience of persons traveling in the construction area as we continue to make improvements to our community.
