The City of Baytown Planning & Development Services Department is sponsoring a free Homebuyer Education Workshop on Saturday, June 28, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Baytown Community Center, 2407 Market Street. Topics covered will include household budgeting, mortgage lending, loan closing, home maintenance and ownership responsibilities and benefits. Workshop attendees will receive an extensive Fannie Mae workbook, a Certificate of Completion and a comprehensive understanding of the home buying process. The City of Baytown also provides financial assistance to purchase a home within the city limits. The Homebuyers’ Assistance Program provides grants up to $4,500 for closing costs to purchase a single-family existing home priced at $105,000 or below. To qualify for the program, homebuyers must meet certain criteria, including being income-eligible and being able to obtain mortgage financing with a lender.
