The Chevron Phillips Chemical Cedar Bayou Plant located off Interstate 10 in Baytown will be hosting the annual Mass Casualty “Medex” drill on Tuesday morning October 23rd in a joint effort with the facility, San Jacinto Hospital, and City of Baytown Office of Emergency Management. Over 150 personnel and associated emergency response mobile equipment will be involved in this half day event. The overall drill objectives includes a mass casualty (up to 50 personnel role playing various injuries) exercise where the facility, participating agencies, and emergency services can evaluate the overall effectiveness of emergency management procedures and protocol while meeting state and federal drill requirements. ROTC students from the area high schools Baytown Lee and Sterling volunteer to participate as “victims” in the various drill scenarios played out. This year’s drill will also include participation with the Mutual Aid of Mont. Belvieu (MAMB) as a joint drill to meet annual MAMB requirements in which Chevron Phillips is an active member.
