Storm Causes Overflow at Lift Station

April 22, 2009

Recent rainfall in excess of 6 inches resulted in a surcharge to the City’s sanitary sewer system causing an overflow of 150,000 gallons of wastewater at the Steinman Lift Station. The City’s Public Works Department reports that the overflow caused no adverse effects as the water was heavily diluted by rainwater. The engineering firm of Jones and Carter is currently doing an engineering study to look at alternatives to possibly eliminate the overflow.
