On Saturday, November 10th, the City of Baytown Health Department will host the seventh City of Baytown Texas Recycles Day, as part of the City’s Litter Abatement and Keep Baytown Beautiful program. This environmentally friendly annual event is coordinated with hundreds of other Keep Texas Beautiful affiliates throughout the state. Last year’s event witnessed 182 households participating in the recycling activities. The Health Department collected 451 tires, 81 batteries, 380 gallons of oil, 65 oil filters, 11 gallons of anti-freeze, and 5 tons of newspapers and magazines.
Through the generous support of our sponsors, Baytonians will be able to drop off the following items for recycling: oil, oil filters, anti-freeze, passenger tires, automotive batteries, newspaper and magazines. No other items will be accepted. Each participant will be asked to provide his/her name and address. No businesses or commercial drop offs will be allowed. The event will be set up on the south parking lot of Lowe’s (the side closest to Luna’s). Residents will be able to drop-off items between the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM, and volunteers will assist in removing items from vehicles.
This event is made possible by the continuing support of our 2007 Partners Against Litter Sponsors: ExxonMobil, Bayer Baytown Industrial Park, Chevron Phillips Chemical Company; Liberty Tire Recycling, LLC, and The Baytown Sun.
Special thanks to our Recycling Sponsors: Lowe’s Home Improvement, Wal-Mart (for recycling the batteries), A.R.R.O.W-Approved Remediation & Recycling of Oil Waste, Inc. (for recycling the oil, oil filters and anti-freeze), Liberty Tire Recycling, LLC (for recycling the tires), and Abitibi-Consolidated Corporation Recycling Division (for recycling the newspaper and magazines).
Residents are encouraged to show their support for the cleanup of the City of Baytown and the protection of our environment, by recycling these items.
