The Port of Houston Authority will once again sponsor the Baytown Nature Center (6213 Bayway Drive) as its official clean-up site for this year’s River, Lakes, Bays ‘N Bayous Trash Bash (Trash Bash). Organizers of the event, which will be held Saturday, March 27, have planned a day full of entertainment, education, and community service for those who come out to help clean up the Nature Center.
Once a year thousands of volunteers gather along Texas waterways to participate in the Trash Bash, which is the largest statewide event held to educate the public about the importance of our water resources. “Trash Bash” promotes the cleaning and care of Texas’ wetlands and waterways.
Parking will be in designated areas on San Jacinto Point, inside the Nature Center. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and will take place at Tracey’s Theater on San Jacinto Point. Groups of 10 or more should download the registration form from www.trashbash.org and fill it out prior to arrival to expedite the registration process. All participants must complete a liability form (downloadable from the same site) prior to arriving at the site. Debris clean-up will take place from 9 – 11:30 a.m.
After debris clean-up is complete, the Baytown Nature Center will host a Nurture Nature Festival from 1– 4 p.m., featuring live animals, kids’ activities, educational exhibits, a fishing pond, and games.
