The City of Baytown wants to clear up any confusion regarding recent solicitations by an outside company encouraging citizens to arrange for home water filter installation. Earlier this week, an unidentified, independent water treatment company distributed door hangers to homes in the Baytown area. The company claims that they will install whole-house water treatment filters at no cost to residents. The door hangers invite homeowners to provide their personal information so that the company can contact them and arrange for filters to be installed.
The company, which is not affiliated in any way with the City of Baytown or any regional health department, infers on the door hanger that the local water quality necessitates the installation of a water filtration system.
The City of Baytown and The Baytown Area Water Authority want to assure residents that the City’s drinking water meets or exceeds all federal (EPA) drinking requirements in addition to the requirements of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. The system is recognized as a superior water system and was honored to receive TOPs (Texas Optimization Program) recognition. The Baytown Area Water Authority is only the fourth plant in the state of Texas to receive the TOPs distinction. The City of Baytown is dedicated to providing residents with drinking water of the highest quality and has continued to operate without violations, meeting or exceeding all regulatory standards.
The City of Baytown annually presents a report which provides all available data concerning the quality of our drinking water. The latest report will be released later this summer.
