The Youth Advisory Commission (YAC), along with the Mayor and City Council, recognizes a student within the Goose Creek Consolidated Independent School District as the “Youth of the Month” each month during the regular school year. This honor is given because the student has excelled in the area of community service, academics, personal achievements, volunteerism and/or sports activity.
Any citizen of Baytown, regardless of their age or relation to the student, is eligible to make a nomination. However, all eligible nominees must attend school within the GCCISD area and be 14 – 18 years of age at the time of the nomination. There is no limit to how many times a student can be nominated; however, each student is only eligible to win once per year. At the end of the year, a “Youth of the Year” will be selected from the previous monthly winners. All winners are recognized by the Mayor at the 2nd regularly scheduled Council Meeting of the month.
Nominations are needed! If you know a student who deserves such an honor, please submit your nomination form as soon as possible. The first recipient for this school year will be acknowledged in October.
Submit nomination forms here, City Hall, 2401 Market Street, or fax to 281-420-5891, Attn: Gina Rivon, YAC Coordinator.
Our goal is to recognize and applaud our youth for the many contributions they make to our fine City. Today they are learning, but tomorrow they will be our leaders! We need to encourage them!!!!
