The City of Baytown Health department operates a Harris County approved walk-in site for adult probationers that are required to perform court ordered community service. The probationers are assigned to the City of Baytown Health department’s Community Service Program by the court and are ordered to perform a specific number of community service work hours within a specific timeframe in lieu of payment of fines. The Program utilizes the assigned probationers to clean and pick-up litter and trash along city streets, alleys, ditches, and right of ways from 8 am to 5 pm Tuesday through Saturday.
The program was created and implemented last year by the City of Baytown Health department. Financial funding for the program was provided by a solid waste grant that was awarded to the City of Baytown by the Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
