Aggravated Robbery (photos)

On Thursday, May 7th, 2009, Baytown Police Department responded to a robbery call where the complainant advised officers he had given a Black male a ride from the Home Depot then they stopped at the McDonald’s located at 7000 Garth Rd, Baytown, TX. then picked up a second Black male. The victim was then ordered by the second male to give him his money. The victim cooperated and removed $1,068 in cash from his wallet and gave it to the suspect. The victim was then ordered to drive to his bank and take money out of the ATM. The victim stated he believed the second male to have a gun because he had his hand inside his pocket. The first male pulled out a knife on the victim. They then drove to the Community Resource Credit Union located at 6810 Garth Rd, Baytown, TX. The victim was unable to take money out of the ATM and he later released the suspects back at McDonald’s.

The following are the suspects:

Suspect #1: Black male, 30-49 years of age, 5’08”-5’10”, slim build, short black hair, well dressed in a white long sleeve button up shirt and a baseball cap.

Suspect #2: (Driver’s side in truck)

Black male, 30-49 years of age, 5-08”-5’10”, slim build, short hair (balding), well dressed in a blue suit, eye glasses.

Both males have an accent but possibly fake the accent.

The above photos are from the suspects involved in the “pigeon dropping” scam. The two Black males are the suspects. The Black male in the back seat is difficult to see and the driver is the victim.

Baytown Police Department has had several cases of “Pigeon Dropping” and believed this case to be the same except for the victim claiming he was robbed. Baytown Police Department would like to warn all citizens about the scam which has escalated throughout the city and especially in the Garth Rd. corridor.

“Pigeon Dropping” is usually a scam in which suspect(s) lure victims by showing a large amount of money in order for the scam to work. The suspects usually have the money in a bank bag or money envelope and the suspect(s) advise they had just found the money and out of “good faith” they then begin the scam by getting the victims to withdraw money from their bank accounts or credit cards to give to the suspect(s) and in return the suspect(s) give the victims half or all the money in the bag or envelope. In other instances the suspect(s) get the victims to drop them off at a financial institution or law office. After the victim gives the money to the suspects, the money bag is then switched with paper scraps of the same weight of the money bag and the suspect(s) tell the victim(s) they would be back after they speak with an attorney or banker but escape through other means. The victim becomes the pigeon and gets dropped holding a bag of scrap paper.

Baytown Crime Stoppers will pay up to $2,000.00 for information leading to the arrest and charging of the suspect(s) responsible for this crime. Please call Baytown Crime Stoppers at 281-427-TIPS (8477). Crime Stoppers pays $CASH$ for information that leads to an arrest in any felony crime. YOU WILL ALWAYS REMAIN ANONYMOUS!
