Crime of the Week

Homicide

On Sunday, April 28th, 2008, at approximately 10:40 P.M., Baytown Communications received a 911 call from a homeowner in the 300 block of W. Republic in Baytown, Texas. The caller reported hearing shots fired in the area before an apparent shooting victim knocked upon the caller’s door in an attempt to get help. Responding Police Officers located an unoccupied, silver Volkswagen Jetta parked in the street with the driver and passenger side doors open. Officers observed a blood trail from the Jetta to the porch area of the caller’s nearby home. The victim was located on the caller’s porch, unresponsive.

Baytown Police Officers secured the area prior to the Paramedics entering and attempting to provide life saving care to no avail. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim was identified as INFANTE, RAFAEL 09/21/1974, W/M, a Baytown resident and electronics installer.

Burglary of Motor Vehicle

On March 28, 2008 between the hours of 06:30 PM and 06:35 PM, a Black male driving a Brown or Bronze Jeep Grand Cherokee drove into the parking lot of Ross S. Sterling High School, 300 W. Baker Rd., in Baytown. This subject was captured on video breaking into and burglarizing parked vehicles in the parking lot.

Aggravated Robbery (click here for photos)

On Friday, March 21, 2008 at 10:01 P.M. an Aggravated Robbery occurred at the Snack Time Food Mart located at 3312 Decker Drive in Baytown. A Black male suspect entered the store with a handgun and demanded money from the clerk. When the clerk refused to give the subject money, the suspect then fired two shots in the direction of the clerk as he fled the store. The clerk was not injured in the incident.

The suspect is described as a Black male, approximately 5’09”, 200 pounds, wearing a black hoodie with a white bandanna covering his face, cream colored light zip coat jacket and beige pants, and brown boots.

The Baytown Police Department is asking for help from the public in identifying this suspect. Please view the enclosed photos and in particular, look at the suspect’s clothing.

A diamond tennis bracelet valued at $1,500.00 was stolen from the Mr. Money Pawn Shop at 4400 Decker Drive at approximately 10:53 A.M. on 01-10-08. Two Black males (photos) entered the local business and began looking at the jewelry. One subject left the store and pulled their car around to the front while the other subject continued to look. Once the car was in place the subject looking at the jewelry grabbed the bracelet from the sales person’s hand and fled. Both subjects left the scene in an older model green Chevrolet Impala.

Suspect 1 is described as a Black male in his early twenties, wearing a dark colored skull cap and a light blue jacket with “The Culture” in white lettering on the back. The suspect wore an earring in his left ear.

Suspect 2 who grabbed the bracelet and ran is a light skinned Black male in his early twenties with medium length curly hair and a thin mustache. This suspect wore a black jacket with white writing on the front right and sleeve.

Aggravated Robbery

An aggravated Robbery occurred at approximately 01:00 A.M. on Sunday, December 16, 2007 in front of a local bar. The suspect jumped into the back seat of the victim’s gray 2001 Dodge truck as the victim was leaving from “Mi Estrellita Bar” located at 3321 Market St. The suspect then pointed a chrome plated revolver to the victim’s head and demanded the victim’s truck. The suspect then fired a shot through the driver’s (victim) seat but the round did not penetrate. The suspect jumped out of the truck and fled to a white Dodge Caravan which was parked in back of the victim’s truck.

The suspect was described as being a Hispanic male, 6’ tall, heavy build with a mustache, dark complexion, 30-40 years of age. There was a second suspect by the van who fled with suspect #1. He was described as being a Hispanic male, shorter than suspect #1, slim build, 30-40 years of age.

Aggravated Robbery

On Thursday, December 20, 2007, at approximately 08:11 A.M., an aggravated robbery occurred at a local bar. The suspect walked into the Sunbright Bar located at 622 W. Main St. The suspect was armed with a chrome handgun and ordered the bartender into a back restroom. The suspect then went through the register and other locations of the bar and took approximately $2200 in cash.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic male, 6’ tall, thin build, and dark skin and between the age of 30-40 years of age. The suspect hardly had hair and had stubbles on top of his head. The suspect also was not clean shaven with stubbles on his face. He spoke English, but had a Spanish accent.

It is unknown if the suspect fled on foot or in a vehicle.
