Garbage Pick Up

Garbage/Heavy Trash Pickup

Monday and Thursday if you live north of Highway 146 (formerly Loop 201).
Tuesday and Friday if you live south of Highway 146 (formerly Loop 201).

Garbage will be picked up on all City holidays except Thanksgiving and the day observed by the City for Christmas and New Years Day. Holidays that fall on Saturday are observed on the previous Friday and those that fall on Sunday are observed on the following Monday. If any of these shall fall on your regular pickup day, the garbage pickup will be deferred until the next scheduled collection day.

Garbage must be in cans or plastic bags less than 30 gallons in size and weigh less than 60 pounds per container. It should be by the street by 7:30 a.m. of the scheduled collection day. Heavy trash such as furniture, boxes, old appliances (without freon) and other junk will be collected along with your regular garbage.

No building materials, tires, batteries, or other hazardous materials can be set out with the garbage.

Brush Collection

Brush collection is divided into 4 zones and is picked up once a month. Click here to view a map of the zones.

  • Zone 1 - Everyone east of N. Main and north of Ward Rd. Brush is picked up on the week of the first Monday of the month.
  • Zone 2 - Everyone south of Ward Rd. and east of Goose Creek. Brush is picked up on the week of the second Monday of the month.
  • Zone 3 - Everyone southwest of Decker Dr. and west of Goose Creek. Brush is picked up on the week of the third Monday of the month.
  • Zone 4 - Everyone east of Decker Dr., west of N. Main and north of W. Lobit. Brush is picked up on the week of the fourth Monday of the month.

The brush/limbs must be by the street by 7:30 AM on Monday of your pickup week. If bagging/sacking small cutting or grass, please place in paper bags. These bags are available at Home Depot or sometimes Wal-Mart. The brush debris collected is ground into wood chips. These wood chips are used for wood burning fuel. Wood burning fuel, a form of Biomass, is a renewable energy alternative that reduces dependency on fossil fuels and improves the environment. Since these wood chips are used for fuel, the product must remain in its natural raw state. Therefore no lumber, wood, plastic or any other material may be mixed with the brush and limbs.

If leaves or cutting are placed in plastic bags, please put them out with the twice a week garbage pick-up.

Brush stacked too close to fences, gas meters, mail boxes, sign posts, under overhead wires, low hanging tree limbs or placed too far from the curb will not be picked up by crews for your and their safety.

Trimmings should be no more than 8 feet in length.
