Student Information
Baytown Police Academy Class Payment
Our Contractual Funding agreement with the Houston - Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) mandates the following regarding the administration of our training courses:
The implementation of the following regarding registration, cancellation & minimum enrollment:
Registration may be cancelled without penalty up to three (3) working days before the class; however, registrants who cancel within the last three (3) days, along with all no-shows will be charged full tuition.
Classes may be cancelled if minimum enrollments are not met three (3) days prior to the scheduled class start date.
Unless otherwise specicfied, eah course must have a minimum enrollment of 20 students, or it may be cancelled.
The tuition amount for all classes can be found in the course description. Tuition must be received in full at the time of the class.
The Baytown Police academy will require all officers who have registered for any of our classes to remit payment for the class by any of the following means:
- Check (personal or city)
- Money order
- Purchase order #
- Cash
All Checks should be made payable to the City of Baytown Police Academy.

Baytown Police Academy Rules And Dress Code
Disciplined behavior as well as professional demeanor and conduct will be maintained at all times. Under no circumstances will rudeness to an instructor, or disruptive behavior that distracts other students be tolerated.
Abusive language and horseplay will not be tolerated.
Dress Code: Officers attending classes represent not only their respective agency, but also the law enforcement profession. While the wearing of a coat and tie is not required; officer’s dress should be appropriate for professionals continuing their education. Officers may dress in a casual yet professional style. Hats, tank tops, halter tops, T-shirts, shorts (unless work uniform), and thongs/sandals are not permitted in the classroom.
No tobacco products will be allowed in the classroom.
Range Dress Code: Officers should dress accordingly for firearms training. BDU’s are a good choice, as are shorts with cargo pockets. Wear footwear that will offer proper support. No red shirts or hats will be worn by students. Everyone at the range will be required to wear eye and ear protection, and a hat is highly recommended. Students should be prepared for inclement weather. Body armor is suggested for training and will be mandatory for some classes.
No tobacco products are allowed on the firing lines.
The Director of Training will be the final authority on what is termed appropriate attire.

Dress Code
Dress standards for officers, jailers and civilians who attend training classes at
Male employees shall wear dress shirts, sports shirts or polo-type shirts with dress or casual slacks, providing the attire is appropriate to a business environment. No necktie is required.
Female employees shall wear dresses or slacks/skirts with shirt/blouse, which are appropriate to a business environment.
Footwear will be appropriate for the class assignment and by its construction or condition not present a safety hazard.
Unacceptable attire:
Form fitting stretch pants; stirrup-type pants
Capri, clam digger or ¾ length pants
T-shirts, tank tops
Denim jeans of any color, style or brand/manufacture
Excessively worn or torn apparel
Sneakers, slippers, Shoes without an enclosed heel or a heel strap, such as clogs or mules
Clothing that shows bare shoulders (strapless or spaghetti straps) will not be worn unless a coordinating jacket or blouse is worn as a top garment at all times
Attire which reveals midriffs or bosoms
See-through clothing, unless proper undergarments are also worn
Exposed ankle bracelets and toe rings
Baseball caps in the classroom
At the discretion of the instructor responsible over specific training (BPD training, or an outside instructor), employees may be directed to wear other attire that is more appropriate to unusual training activities or conditions. (Tactical course, physical training, ATV training, maintenance/repair courses, etc.)
Officer’s attending the Three day Police Emergency Driving class, shall wear appropriate classroom attire as prescribed above for the first day of class. The second and third day of class will be conducted outdoors and in the environment, so you will be allowed to wear comfortable clothing appropriate for the weather conditions (denim products will be allowed at this time). Athletic footwear will be allowed for the last two days of this class. No open toed shoes, sandals, flip flops etc.. will be allowed.
For officers attending the re-current driving classes, the entire class will be conducted outdoors and in the environment, you will be allowed to wear comfortable clothing and baseball caps appropriate for the weather conditions. You will be allowed to wear athletic footwear.
All ATV classes, you should wear comfortable clothing appropriate for the weather conditions. It is recommended that you wear long pants, boots and gloves.
Officer’s attending firearms classes will be allowed to wear comfortable clothing to include baseball caps appropriate for the weather conditions. Body armor is mandatory for all firearms classes. When attending firearms classes YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO WEAR ANY FORM OF RED CLOTHING OR RED BASEBALL CAPS.
Any ASP Baton, O.C. Pepper Spray, Defensive Tactics or Taser classes you may wear Athletic wear, sweat pants, wind/warm up suits, t-shirt and athletic shoes.
