Editing photos
Photos must be cropped and resized before adding them to a page. Only full-color photos may be used. Use no special effects on photos. The photos should be rectangular and should not have feathered edges.
Limited number of photos
Be selective in use of photos. In most cases only one or two photos will be used per page. Lengthy pages may use multiple photos, but photos should be relatively small. (This will help avoid a cluttered look to pages and help maintain reasonable download times.)
ALT text
Alternative text is to be added to each photo. This short phrase is what displays in a text box when the visitor mouses over an image. This accessibility feature is primarily necessary for visually impaired visitors using screen-reading browsers.
Image editing
Photos must be cropped and appropriately resized in an image-editing program (Fireworks, Photoshop, Photo Editor) before adding them to a page. (Do not resize by stretching image handles in Contribute.)
File size
Photos may not be larger than 80K.
Dimensions
Photos must fit on page without causing the page to stretch horizontally. To find the size of an existing photo, right click and choose Properties. It's a good idea to not make photographs too large; make sure the text wraps around the photograph at the 800 x 600 browser width.
Captions
If a photo requires a cut line (caption), it must be embedded into the image by first inserting the photograph in a table, placing the photo and the cut line in separate table cells, then apply one of the Image Table Align styles.
Alignment
Do not leave photos in the Default alignment When photo is not placed next to local navigation menu, it may be either left or right aligned. Photos alongside local navigation must be left-aligned.
If multiple photos are placed on the page, alignment should be varied. Don't set all photos on a single page to either left-align or right align.
Spacing Around Photos
Spacing around a photograph can be achieved by first placing the photograph in a table, then choosing one of the Image Table Align styles. Alternatively you may place white space around the image using your favorite photo editor.
