Structuring a Page

Correctly structuring the content of your page will help visitors quickly locate information. It will also make the page easier to maintain in the future.

The Main Heading above is equivalent to a main point in an outline. The main heading on the page is always assigned by the page template; you cannot use the same font style for your headings as the main heading.

Step 1: Using Paragraph Style, assign the Heading 1 style to this text block because it's one of the main sections of the page.

The most important subheadings should be assigned the Heading 1 style.

An important rationale for developing your pages in this way is that it separates the structural and organizational contents from the aesthetic design of the page. This means:

Consistency of information presentation will be uniform site-wide to make it more user-friendly.

The site look and feel can be updated in an instant by the site administrators with a modification to the CSS file.

When pages are created this way, it is also possible to allow pages to be reformatted automatically for display in different devices. For example, without creating new pages, the pages could be properly formatted for display on a handheld device or for print by applying a different CSS file.

Highlight the above three text blocks and then make them into a bulleted list by clicking the Bulleted List button on the toolbar.
