The scope of the project includes improvements to drainage in two (2) phases. Phase 1 includes the segment of roadway on S. Main from Texas to Republic, upsizing the existing storm sewer, lowering the road. Phase 2 includes the area along Republic St. from S. Main to S. Pruett, upsizing the storm sewer, lowering the roadway, and providing detention.
During heavy storm events cause flooding in the area. The flooding causes damage to property and area around the CIty's Emergency Services building is impassable. The project seeks to reduce and ultimately mitigate flooding by providing drainage improvements. Phase 1 of the improvements was in the are of S. Main St from Texas to Republic, funded by a CDBG DR grant. Phase 2 of the improvements will be funded by Harris County Flood Control District
