Our teen volunteers are integral to planning for and putting on our programming and events, but because we are not hosting programs for the near future, our in-person volunteering program is currently on hiatus. Despite all the changes to our programming right now, we’re doing our best to offer the same kinds of opportunities as before.
Our in-person volunteering program is back in a limited capacity! We’re only accepting a limited number of applicants for in-person volunteering, so if you are interested please fill out the digital PDF attached and use the “Fill and Sign” feature to have both the volunteer and the volunteer’s parent or guardian sign it.
The program will begin Tuesday, February 2, 2021, and will run until Thursday, May 27, 2021.
I want to volunteer, but I don’t read a lot. Is that okay?
Totally! Although a lot of our digital content creators focus on reading and writing reviews, there are a number of options for those who don’t read regularly. Our Goodreads reviewer may focus on comics books, manga, and graphic novels, and our blog writer may review podcasts, movies, etc. The most important thing is to be passionate about the position you apply for and the content you create. If those ideas don’t sound appealing, keep checking our social media and website for the in-person volunteering to reopen.
If I apply, do I have to volunteer?
Because of how we are formatting our new online volunteer program, we will assume anyone who submits an application through email is willing and able to hold their volunteer position.
How long does the program last?
This new volunteering program is on-going, which means you could do it for three months or three years, as long as you remain in good standing by submitting work on time and communicating with the volunteer coordinator.
What if the program isn’t working out for me?
We understand that taking on extra work can be stressful, so just reach out to talk to us. We may be able to give you a one month break or transfer you to a different volunteering position if you are interested.
What happens if I don’t submit my work?
A lot of people are working together to help make content for Sterling Municipal Library. The first time you don’t submit your work in a timely manner, the volunteer coordinator will reach out to give you an extension. If the problem continues, the position will end and we will not consider any new applications for 6 months.
What about in-person volunteering?
Right now the library is not holding their normal, in-person volunteering program. We may restart the program with limited volunteers in the future if we can ensure City and library safety policies are being met.
