Post Date:04/10/2019 4:08 PM
Astronaut Clayton AndersonIn celebration of Astronomy Week at Sterling Municipal Library, the Friends of the Library are welcoming Astronaut Clayton Anderson for an after-hours Evening with the Author event on Friday, April 26 at 7:00pm.

Clayton Anderson discovered his love of reading as a youngster growing up in Kansas. While diving into the pages of Superman and Batman comic books, and solving clues alongside Brains Benton and James “Jimmy” Carson, Anderson realized that he could turn his vivid imagination into a true life adventure. Now a three-time author, Anderson spreads his love of reading to audiences of all ages, leaving crowds raptured by his extraordinary story of how he became a United States Astronaut.

The Friends of the Library have celebrated over fifty well-known authors at their annual Evening with the Author event. The event is held in the same month as National Library Week, an annual week of appreciation for libraries, librarians, and library workers who promote and support library use. “We’re excited to bring in a local hero,” says Library Director Jamie Eustace. “This is so different from the authors we have hosted in years past. We think young and old alike will really benefit from hearing Astronaut Anderson’s story of how his childhood love of literature guided his future.”

For the first time ever, no tickets are necessary to attend An Evening with the Author. The first 50 attendees will receive a free copy of Anderson’s picture book A is for Astronaut: Blasting Through the Alphabet. Copies of Anderson’s biography The Ordinary Spaceman will be available for purchase. A book signing, coffee, and pie will follow. For more information about this event call 281-427-7331.
