COVID 19, or the Coronavirus

In accordance with the Stay Home, Work Safe order issued by Harris County, the City of Baytown has closed all City facilities to the public until April 30th . Following CDC guidelines, we have canceled all City events, programming, and City venue rentals until further notice.  Some  City services will continue to run, but in a modified format through digital or other distance means. We would like you to know that the City is in daily contact with State and County Health and Emergency Management Officials. We continue to address the situation in cooperation with all of our partners in government and industry. While you’re likely to see various reactions to the situation, we ask that you remain calm.  We will continue to keep you updated here and via our social media channels

Public Hearing notices are posted on the City's notice boards and website, said notices are only maintained on the website until such time as the hearing date has passed.  Original documents are maintained in the City Clerk's Office for the designated retention period.  For more information regarding each notice, please refer to the department information listed on each notice, as the responsible party may vary.

April 9, 2020 

NOTICE is hereby given that the City Council of the City of Baytown will hold public hearings on April 9, 2020, in the Council Chamber at Baytown City Hall, 2401 Market Street, Baytown, Texas, at 6:30 P.M., giving all interested parties the right to be heard on the following items:

(1) the proposed text amendments to Chapter 126 of the Code of Ordinance, City of Baytown, Texas to amend definitions;

(2) the proposed rezoning of approximately 35.12 acres of unaddressed property legally described as Tract 72 Part of Lots 15 16 & 17 Block 20 Highland Farms, Harris County, Texas, from Open space/recreation ("OR") to General commercial ("GC") zoning district;

(3) the proposed rezoning of approximately 63.56 acres addressed as 1411 FM 565, and legally described as 205 2C-1 R A Porter and 61 Tract 22A-1 B B B and C RR Co, Chambers County, Texas, from Open space/recreation ("OR") to Light industrial ("LI") zoning district; and

(4) the proposed rezoning of approximately 4.86 acres unaddressed property, and legally described as Tract 11A Block 21 & Tracts 16A thru 21A & 22B thru 25B Block 7 East End Highland Farms, Harris County, Texas, from Open space/recreation ("OR") to General commercial ("GC") zoning district.

Due to the COVID 19 Disaster and CDC's recommendation regarding social distancing measures. The public will not be allowed to be physically present at the April 9, 2020, City Council meeting; however, the meeting will be available to members of the public and allow for two-way communications for those desiring to participate. Any person interested in speaking on any item on the agenda must submit his/her request via email to the City Clerk at cityclerk@baytown.org. The request must be received prior to the posted time of the meeting.

April 14, 2020 

NOTICE is hereby given that the Board of Adjustment (BOA) of the City of Baytown will hold a public hearing on April 14, 2020 in the Council Chambers at Baytown City Hall, 2401 Market Street, Baytown, TX, at 4:00 P.M., giving all interested persons the right to be heard on the following application:

• a variance from the Unified Land Development Code Article III, Division 1, Table 3-1 "Property Development Standards requesting a variance from the required five (5) foot side yard setback for the property located at 1705 North 5th Street, and legally described as South 24 feet of Lot 5 and North 26 feet of Lot 6, Block 1, in the Outlawn Terrace Subdivision, Harris County, Texas.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Baytown will hold public hearings on March 17, 2020, and April 21, 2020, in the Council Chamber at Baytown City Hall, 2401 Market Street, Baytown, Texas, at 5:00 P.M., giving all interested parties the right to appear and be heard on the following items:

(1) the proposed rezoning of approximately 4.2 acres addressed as 750 Lanier Drive, and legally described as Tract 1B & Tract 12R-1 Abstract 66 W SCOTT & Tract 57C Abstract 840 H Whiting Abstract 842 H Whiting, Harris County, Texas, from Open space/recreation ("OR") to General commercial ("GC") zoning district;

(2) proposed text amendments to the Unified Land Development Code of the Code of Ordinance, City of Baytown, Texas, to add a non-residential use for “Travel Center”, to define such use, to establish conditions for such use, to distinguish such use from other uses defined in the Unified Land Development Code; and

(3) proposed text amendments to the Unified Land Development Code of the Code of Ordinance, City of Baytown, Texas, to: (i) add a non-residential accessory use for residential accessory structures; (ii) add a residential accessory use for residential accessory structures; (iii) amend zoning districts and conditions for residential accessory uses; (iv) amend and remove conditions related to residential accessory structures; and (v) amend size restrictions for residential accessory uses.
