COVID 19, or the Coronavirus

In accordance with the Stay Home, Work Safe order issued by Harris County, the City of Baytown has closed all City facilities to the public until April 3rd.  Following CDC guidelines, we have canceled all City events, programming, and City venue rentals for 8 weeks.  Some  City services will continue to run, but in a modified format through digital or other distance means. We would like you to know that the City is in daily contact with State and County Health and Emergency Management Officials. We continue to address the situation in cooperation with all of our partners in government and industry. While you’re likely to see various reactions to the situation, we ask that you remain calm.  We will continue to keep you updated here and via our social media channels

Baytown Mayor Brandon Capetillo

Brandon Capetillo’s experienced tenure includes serving multiple terms as Mayor-ProTem, Baytown Municipal Development District member, Industrial District member, Baytown’s Representative on the Houston-Galveston Advisory Council (HGAC) and the Transportation Policy Council, chairman of the Architectural and Engineering Committee, and serving on the Goose Creek CISD Education Foundation board. Additionally, Capetillo was appointed in 2013 by Harris County Commissioners Court to the Harris Health Board of Managers, formally known as the Harris County Hospital District that operates Ben Taub and LBJ Hospitals for Harris County citizens, in which he served until late 2016. 

Capetillo is a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, Lee College and the University of Houston Clear-Lake, where he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Government and History. He is a veteran of the United States Air Force in which he served during Operation Desert Storm, and earned a Southwest Asia Service Medal for his tour in Saudi Arabia. He also served as Post Commander for the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 912 located in Baytown. 

Capetillo is a corporate quality manager for Airgas, an Air Liquide Company that provides specialty gases to various industries and markets. Previously, Capetillo also was the deputy program manager at the NASA-Johnson Space Center calibration laboratory as a federal contractor. 
Brandon has been married to his wife Blanca for 24 years and they have two children, Bethany and Ruben. Brandon and his family are parishioners at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Baytown.
