COVID 19, or the Coronavirus

In accordance with Governor Abbott’s “Open Texas” executive order, the City of Baytown will be re-opening public facilities in a phased process. Following CDC guidelines, all City events, programming, and City venue rentals remain cancelled or postponed until further notice. City services will continue to run in a modified format through digital or other distance means. Beginning May 11th, we will begin providing curb side and appointment-only services at our public facilities while avoiding fully opening government facilities to the public. We will continue to keep you updated on our social media channels.

Both the Baytown Nature Center and the Eddie V. Gray Wetlands Education Center offer award-winning, nature inspired/environmental programs designed for pre-school children, school-age field trips, home school groups and outreach opportunities.

The Eddie V. Gray Wetlands Education Center offers multiple award-winning programs in an indoor setting for pre-school through college levels. The Bayer Science Investigation Lab and the 9,000 square-foot Robert M. Craig Exhibit Hall afford perfect venues for scientific learning and nature discoveries.

For outdoor adventures and hands-on learning the Baytown Nature Center is the perfect spot. Putting into practice what has been introduced in a classroom situation at the Wetlands Center, students are provided opportunities to cast nets and seine in wetlands; search for birds in upland forested areas; take nature walks or test for water quality. Other programs on myriad topics for pre-school through adult are done entirely outdoors at the nature center.
