 Safe Sitter Information Sheet

SAFE SITTER CLASS

Grades 6-8

Sunday, July 21, 12:00 to 6:00 pm          BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND

$75.00 per student

Designed to prepare students in grades 6-8 to be safe when they’re home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting. This instructor-led class is filled with fun games and role-playing exercises. Students will learn:

  • Safety Skills: Students learn how to prevent unsafe situations and what to do when faced with dangers such as power failures or weather emergencies.
  • Child Care Skills: Students learn tips to manage behavior that will help them stay in control of themselves and the children in their care. Students also learn the ages and stages of child development, as well as practice diapering.
  • First Aid & Rescue Skills: Learning skills such as choking rescue and CPR is often students’ favorite part of the class. Students also learn a system to help them assess and respond to injuries and illnesses. (CPR included in Safe Sitter® Essentials with CPR and Safe Sitter® Expanded.)
  • Life & Business Skills: The ability to screen jobs, discuss fees, and greet employers will set students up for success now and in the future. Students practice these skills through various role plays.

ALL ABOUT SLIME CAMP

Ages 5+

Monday, June 3 - Friday, June 7, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm

The All About Slime Camp gives kids the opportunity to play with oozy, fluffy, edible, slimy, glittery goop in a fun, instructor-led setting at the Baytown Community Center. Back by popular demand, this camp is filled with brand new activities that add up to a slime-tastic time!

Vet Camp-01

VETERINARIAN CAMP

Ages 5-11

Monday, June 10 - Friday, June 14, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm

$125 per student

In this one-of-a-kind camp, kids will learn all about what veterinarians do, the tools and instruments they use, and the kinds of animals they take care of. Campers will view x-rays, explore anatomy, make models and learn how to tell whether an animal is sick -- all while learning lots of useful information about household pets, barnyard animals, zoo mammals, aquatic animals and backyard critters. Several special visitors will make an appearance throughout the week!

LEGO® SUPERHERO ENGINEERING

Ages 5-7

Monday, June 17 - Friday, June 21, 9:00 am to 12:00 pm

$125 per student

Save the world with LEGO® Super Heroes! Build the hideouts and vehicles of your favorite caped crusaders and learn what makes them not only Super Heroes, but Super Hero Engineers! An experienced Play-Well instructor guides young heroes as they design, build, and save a city where ingenuity and imagination can solve any conflict. 

 

LEGO® MASTER SUPERHERO ENGINEERING

Ages 7-12

Monday, June 17 - Friday, June 21, 9:00 am to 12:00 pm

$125 per student

LEGO® Super Heroes need your help to defeat the destructive forces of evil arch-villains as they threaten LEGOpolis! Explore the tools and techniques of your favorite caped crusaders and learn what makes them not only Super Heroes, but super engineers. An engineering curriculum designed by Play-Well challenges heroes to design, build, and save a city where ingenuity and imagination can solve any conflict.

 

LEGO® JEDI ENGINEERING

Ages 5-7

Monday, July 15 - Friday, July 19, 1:00 to 4:00 pm

$125 per student

The Force Awakens in this introductory engineering course for young Jedi! Explore engineering principles by designing and building projects using LEGO® materials such as X-Wings, R2 Units, Energy Catapults, Defense Turrets, and Settlements from a galaxy far, far away. Create motorized and architectural projects with imagination and engineering to defeat the Empire!

 

LEGO® MASTER JEDI ENGINEERING

Ages 7-12

Monday, July 15 - Friday, July 19, 1:00 to 4:00 pm

$125 per student

The Force Awakens in this advanced engineering course for young Jedi! Discover key engineering concepts such as gear trains, worm drives, pneumatics, and eccentric motion. Build projects from LEGO® Materials such as X-Wings, AT-AT walkers, Pod Racers, Star Destroyers, Cloud Cities, Settlements, Fortresses, and other complex machines and structures from a galaxy far, far away.

SIZZLIN SCIENCE CAMP

Ages 7-12

Tuesday, June 18 - Friday, June 21, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm

Campers will explore the 3 main branches of science - biology, chemistry, and physics - while engaging in animal encounters, performing fun chemical reactions, and exploring the laws of motion with fun experiments, many of which our future scientists can take home!

Calling All Muggles! Ever wanted to experience the wonder of Hogwarts, the deliciousness of Butterbeer, the excitement of magic classes? At Harry's Potions and Spells Kids Camp, campers will participate in fun activities like House Sorting, Patronus Classes, and more. While we can’t promise that your child will become a DADA master or defeat the Dark Lord, we can guarantee that this camp will be magical!

MAGIC SCIENCE CAMP

Monday, July 15 - Friday, July 19, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm

At Magic Science Camp, kids will learn the secret tricks of real magicians: they make coins disappear; pull a rabbit out of a hat; read minds; make potions change color; make writing disappear and reverse direction; create incredible optical illusions; perform amazing card, rope and cup tricks; and so much more! Of course, there is science to be discovered in every trick, and along the way kids will explore chemistry, optics, physics, engineering, life sciences and more.  Camp ends with a big magic show!

Does your child love animals and nature? If so, this is the camp for them! Campers will engage in safe animal encounters as they learn more about vertebrates and invertebrates, and will even get to take home their very own caterpillar to watch it metamorphose into a butterfly!

In this fun camp students will experiment with balloons, popcorn, and games to discover how force, motion and gravity are used in the circus!

Karate is an ancient Japanese art that teaches self-defense, morals, and discipline. Under the direction of instructor David Lange, students will learn the techniques and principals behind one of the world's most widely practiced cultural arts while achieving self-improvement along the way.

ALL ABOUT ME SERIES CAMPS

Ages 7-16

10:00 am to 1:00 pm

$125 per student, per session

  • June 11-13, Passion for Fashion: Students will learn how to sew by hand to make small items (such as mini bags, purses), make small accessories (bracelets, necklaces, headbands), create fashionable ideas using mood boards and other creative materials to show their visions and walk in mini fashion show.

  • June 25-27, Beauty Boot Camp: Campers will learn about hygiene and cleansing techniques, how they should carry themselves, healthy habits for mind and body including some nutrition knowledge and create a "swag bag" to take home all with a fun twist.

  • July 9-11, Beauty Inside Out: Students will learn about how to be glamorous inside and out (being positive, de-stress techniques), dressing and walking techniques, hair, skin care, nails, and appropriate make up and learn how to make items that are appropriate for health and beauty regimen.

  • July 16-18, Young Men’s Etiquette Class: This camp inspires young men to become leaders through fun activities that teach the building blocks of character and etiquette. Young men will learn skills including decision making, community service, conflict resolution, team building, etiquette, goal setting, and more traits that will give them the tools they need to be successful.

  • July 23-25, Passion for Fashion: Students will learn how to sew by hand to make small items (such as mini bags, purses), make small accessories (bracelets, necklaces, headbands), create fashionable ideas using mood boards and other creative materials to show their visions and walk in mini fashion show.

  • July 30 - August 1, Essential Life Skills for Boys: When given a strong foundation of life skills, boys can be ready to seize opportunities later in life. In this session, young men will learn essential life skills such as cooking, laundry, grocery shopping, budgeting, cleaning, home maintenance, and more that will set them up for a successful future.

  • June 11-13, Baking Basics: The perfect introduction to all things baking and pastry.

    Day 1: Cookies and brownies

    Day 3: Decorating character cakes and cupcakes
  • June 25-27, American Comfort Food Favorites: Students will take a culinary journey of the US while learning about different foods from a variety of regions. A fun, hands on class for the budding chef!

    Day 1: (The North) Burger sliders, pomme frites (home fries), milk shakes

    Day 2: (The South) Fried Chicken tenders and waffles, macaroni and cheese, and peach cobbler

    Day 3: (Everywhere in Between) Puff Pastry Chicken pot pies, Chopped Italian salad, mini no-bake cheesecakes
  • July 9-11, Italian Favorites:

    Day 1: Spaghetti and homemade meatballs with fresh garlic butter bread/ Italian cream soda floats

    Day 2: Make your own calzone/ biscotti ice cream sandwiches

    Day 3: Chicken Alfredo rolls/ mini strawberry cheesecakes 

Day 1: Cupcake filling and decorating

  • July 30-August 1– Tasty Desserts: The perfect camp for aspiring bakers interested in learning a variety of kid friendly desserts. Students will learn all about baking, preparing and decorating deliciously beautiful desserts.

Day 1: mini cheesecakes, glazed fruit tarts and key lime pies

Day 2: cupcake decorating

Day 3: sea salt and caramel coconut macaroons, chocolate dipped rice crispy treats
