About Us
Parks and Recreation Divisions
Together, the Aquatics, Natural Resources, Recreation, Parks, and Parks Planning divisions make up the Baytown Parks and Recreation Department. Each division is made up of one Superintendent, and many other full-time, part-time, and seasonal employees.
The department is managed by a Director and Assistant Director as well as advised by the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board that is composed of members who are appointed by the City of Baytown Mayor.
Aquatics Division
The Aquatics Division of the City of Baytown's Parks and Recreation Department operates two waterparks in the summer, Pirates Bay and Calypso Cove.
Nature Division
The Natural Resource Programs Division can be broken into three sections: Eddie V. Gray Wetlands Education Center, Baytown Nature Center, and Wetlands Wagon Outreach Programs.
Recreation Division
The Recreation Division of the City of Baytown's Parks and Recreation Department oversees facilities rentals, events and activities, as well as athletics.
Parks Division
The Parks Division of the City of Baytown's Parks and Recreation Department maintains over 50 parks along with various trails and construction projects throughout the year.
Planning Division
The Planning Division of the City of Baytown's Parks and Recreation Department focuses on new projects and initiatives to help foster growth, innovation, and vision for the City.
Tourism Division (Visit Baytown)
The Tourism Division of the City of Baytown's Parks and Recreation Department serves as a liaison between the City, business community, and overnight guests to cultivate connections and foster economic growth.
Parks and Recreation Mission
The mission of the Baytown Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Department is to foster lifetime involvement in and an appreciation of public spaces, recreational opportunities, and events or activities that enhance the quality of life for residents and the experience of visitors to Baytown.
The Department is dedicated to Baytonians - continually striving to not only meet, but exceed community expectations - making Baytown a better place to live, work, and play.
