Month of Service
Join us for a month of making a difference! This April, we’re celebrating our Month of Service, and we want YOU to be part of it. Step into your community and spread kindness in ways big and small. We've created a special calendar with 30 inspiring ideas to give back – from greeting new faces in your neighborhood to handing out medals at the Special Olympics. It’s a month dedicated to acts of goodwill, and every action, no matter how small, adds up to something amazing. Download your calendar and let’s make April a month to remember!

- Adopt-a-Spot; Sign up as a team to beautify a local roadway, trail, or park.
- Disaster Recovery; Signup to be a 'stand by' volunteer for when disaster strikes in our area through United Way. Duties may include providing immediate shelter protection (tarps), trash/debris clean up, mucking & gutting of homes, packing assistance, and other activities as determined by needs of the community.
- Relay for Life; Join a relay (on April 4th at BHISD High School) or dedicate a Luminaria to a loved one touched by cancer.
- Neighborhood Cleanup; Get out in your neighborhood and gather trash along your walk! Every little bit helps so it won't end up in our waterways.

- Breakout Buddies; Give a high risk/long stay shelter dog a day out of the shelter without a commitment. Designed specifically for dogs in our care who are most vulnerable and in need of hope, our initiative focuses on providing these incredible dogs with regular “breakouts” from the shelter—an opportunity for enrichment, exercise, additional marketing / exposure, and connection while they await their forever homes, fosters, or rescues.
