[ARCHIVED] Look Twice for Motorcycles

Look Twice For Motorcycles

The Texas Department of Transportation is launching its annual Share the Road: Look Twice for Motorcycles campaign to alert drivers about the risks motorcyclists face and the precautions motorists can take to protect them.

Driver Safety Tips

1. Keep motorcyclists in mind. Always check for any nearby, especially at intersections.

2. Look twice. Check blind spots and use your turn signals before changing lanes.

3. Turning left? It can be hard to judge a motorcycle’s speed and distance, so let them pass first and use your turn signal.

4. Keep a safe following distance. Motorcyclists can slow by downshifting, which doesn’t activate their brake light.

5. Slow down. Obey speed limits to keep both yourself and and motorcyclists safe.

Information contained in this report is from NHTSA Traffic Safety Facts and represents reportable data collected from Texas Peace Officer’s Crash Reports (CR-3) received  processed by the Texas Department of Transportation as of February 3, 2025.
