At approximately 4:00 a.m. on May 20th, the Baytown Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire in the 6700 block of Juarez Street. Upon arrival, crews found heavy flames coming
from the home and immediately began fire suppression operations.
During the incident, a Baytown firefighter suffered a medical emergency and a mayday was declared. The firefighter was quickly removed from the structure by fellow crew members and transported to Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital, where they were treated and later released in stable condition.
Additionally, one civilian was treated on scene for smoke inhalation and declined transport to the hospital.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office.
