Requested Action

The applicant is requesting a Special Use Permit (SUP) to allow for Short-Term Rental in a Suburban Residential (SR) Zoning District. The subject property is 0.28 acres in size located along Ashwood Drive. This is generally located east of Decker Drive between Baker Rd and Rollingbrook Dr.  The property has an existing residence consisting of a residential single-family building with an attached garage that was converted to living space.

The subject property is located on the south side of East Freeway/Interstate 10 E. and approximately 0.46 miles west of N. State Highway 146, at 9900 E. Interstate 10, Baytown, Texas 77523, legally described as Chad & Ryan Minor Plat Lot 2 The Trux Store and Chad & Ryan Minor Plat Lot 1.

Background

The approximately 6.59-acre subject property is composed of two parcels, Parcel 56697 and Parcel 56698.  Parcel 56697 contains The Trux Super Store, a truck accessories retail store, while Parcel 56698 is currently undeveloped.  The applicant is requesting a rezoning of the subject property from Open Space/Recreation (OR) to General Commercial (GC) to facilitate potential expansion of the existing business, which specializes in the sale of truck parts and accessories.
