[ARCHIVED] Lorenzo Goodley, 30 Years of Service

Lorenzo Goodley

The story of the Baytown Parks and Recreation Department couldn’t be told without Lorenzo Goodley.   Lorenzo’s career spanning three decades is not only defined by his unwavering commitment to Parks and Recreation but also by his diverse skill set and expertise in welding, fabricating, and constructing playgrounds. Lorenzo started his journey with the City in a part time position driving students of a job training program around to various parks.   Throughout his career with the City, Lorenzo has welded and fabricated structures that not only enhanced the aesthetics of Baytown Parks but also ensured their durability and safety. His meticulous attention to detail and craftsmanship has continued to set a new standard for Baytown’s playground construction.

As Lorenzo ascended to his current role as Parks South Side Crew Leader, his unique blend of skills continued to become an invaluable asset. Whether maintaining current park space, developing a new park amenity, or refurbishing existing ones, he has brought an approach that seamlessly merges design expertise with practical know-how.   Many of Baytown’s most popular amenities such as the Jenkins Parks trail system and other numerous park pavilions, have all started in the hands of Lorenzo.

As Lorenzo Goodley's legacy continues to unfold, his enduring impact on parks and recreation serves as a testament to the transformative power of combining passion with proficiency. In every playground, every welded structure, and every community gathering space, his legacy lives on, inspiring future generations to share in his passion to get outdoors and enjoy life.  The next time you see the former Lee High School football standout with his 20” biceps in a south side park, say hi and thank you. Lorenzo, thank you for 30 years of service.

Hobbies: Strength Training – Can bench press 550 lbs!

Favorite thing about working for the City: Being trained in multiple trades out his normal duties and seeing people and animals enjoying park spaces.
