[ARCHIVED] Dana Dalbey, 30 Years of Service

Dalbey, Dana

The story of Dana Dalbey’s career can best be summarized by the roots and positive impact he has established within the Baytown community. Starting in 1993, Dana completed the Paramedic program at our very own Lee College. A year later, Dana’s journey with City of Baytown began as a Paramedic with the Health Department. Dana rose to the role of an Emergency Medical Services Supervisor in 1995 and in 2006 he led all the paramedic operations within the City as the Emergency Medical Services Coordinator.

Dana was one of the organizational leaders who championed the transition with the Fire and EMS merger in 2013. A year later after becoming a certified firefighter/paramedic, he was promoted to an Assistant Chief over Emergency Medical Services. Since 2018 Dana has served as an Assistant Fire Chief over the administrative operations within the Fire department.

During Dana’s tenure as a City of Baytown employee, he has continued to advance his education to better serve the organization. This includes earning his Associate of Applied Science in Emergency Medical Technology in 2000 through Lee College.  In 2017, he successfully completed the Texas EMS Chiefs Academy and in 2020 Dana earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Service Leadership from University of Houston Clear Lake.

Dana has shared his experience and knowledge with others by serving as an Adjunct EMS Instructor and Clinical Preceptor at Lee College, participating as a guest speaker throughout numerous community events, and co-authoring several articles for the Journal of American Geriatrics Society. Further Dana has been active in the community and region by serving on a number of boards and associations with focus on emergency medical services and fire related services.

Dana is happily married to Debi, his wife of 31 years and proud of his children Tyler, Wendi, and Sandi along with his 8 grandkids who keep him very busy outside of the support he provides to the City. Dana, thank you for serving this City and community for 30 years!

Hobbies: Spending time at the beach, enjoys fishing, avid sportsman - bow hunter, motorcycle riding.

Favorite thing about working for COB: City of Baytown is like a family; big town benefits with a small-town feel.
