Our academy personnel have been honored with the Chief's Unit Citation! Here’s more about their achievement:
Our Training Division is known for their dedication and expertise in various areas, including firearms courses, qualifications, simulator training, recruiting, background investigations, and the hiring of new officers. They ensure our sworn personnel receive the necessary and mandated training to maintain and advance their peace officer licenses, enhancing both their
careers and our department's professionalism.
Countless hours go into preparing for these tasks, much of which goes unseen.
Over the past year, they faced new mandatory projects and requirements from Department Administration and TCOLE, including Defensive Tactics, ALERRT Level 1, Sex Assault Trauma Course, and Finding Wellness. They also implemented a new hiring process focused solely on lateral officers—a first for Baytown—successfully hiring 19 new officers.
Despite the challenges, they supported each other and accomplished their missions with professionalism, improving our department and its officers. Congratulations to our Training Division on this well-deserved recognition!
