[ARCHIVED] Baytown Chamber of Commerce Firefighter of the Quarter

Chamber FFQtr (9)

Join us in congratulating Engineer Joshua Matlock on being recognized as the Baytown Chamber of Commerce's Firefighter of the Quarter!

Engineer Matlock began his career with Baytown Fire in 2011 and was promoted to Engineer in 2016. He holds an Associate of Science in Mathematics and numerous advanced certifications, including HazMat Technician, Rope Rescue, Heavy Rescue, and Fire Instructor. He is a key member of our Regional Hazardous Materials Response Team and received a Medal of Merit for his life-saving efforts during Hurricane Harvey.

In 2024, Engineer Matlock began teaching at the National Fire Academy (NFA) in Emmitsburg, MD. He is one of just 27 instructors nationwide qualified to teach Chemistry for Hazardous Materials Response, and one of only 9 qualified to teach Advanced Science of Hazardous Materials/Weapons of Mass Destruction Response. Having one of our own instruct at the NFA is an incredible achievement and a prestigious honor, reflecting the highest level of expertise and dedication to the fire service.

Whether on the fireground or in the classroom, Engineer Matlock is an instrumental leader in training, mentorship, and service. His impact is felt throughout our department and community, and we are proud to have him on our team.
