Join the 2024 Duck Soup League: Swing into Holiday Cheer!

As the holiday season approaches, it’s the perfect time to spread some cheer in our community, and what better way to do it than through a fun-filled sporting event? The 2024 Duck Soup League invites you to join in the excitement while contributing to a noble cause: our annual Toy Drive benefiting Baytown's beloved Blue Santa.

For those unfamiliar with the term "duck soup," it signifies an achievement within reach. This year, we’re encouraging adults of all skill levels—whether seasoned athletes or those looking to dip their toes into recreational sports—to participate in a league that promises low-key competition and a whole lot of laughter with friends.

A Whirlwind of Fun

The league offers a mix of sports—softball, kickball, and ragball—along with quirky twists that will keep everyone on their toes. With three weeks of Friday double headers, from November 8 through November 22 at Wayne Gray Sports Complex, there are no playoffs; just pure, silly fun. Each game brings a fresh challenge, where the emphasis is on enjoyment rather than competition.

Game Rules with a Twist

Prepare for a unique game experience with our creative rules by inning:

• 1st Inning: Standard softball with one pitch and no courtesy foul.
• 2nd Inning: Bat opposite-handed using a little league bat.
• 3rd Inning: Reverse bases—run to third base first!
• 4th Inning: Kickball, no bunting allowed.
• 5th Inning: Ragball, with a twist of courtesy swings.
• 6th Inning: Open scoring and underhand throws only!

Team Registration and Toy Drive

To join the league, gather your team and sign up by Tuesday, November 5. Each team registration is $100 plus one unopened toy per player, making your participation a double win: a chance to play and a chance to give. Umpire fees of $20 per game will be collected prior to your match.

Dress Up for the Holidays

Adding to the festive atmosphere, we’ll have themed dress-up days:

• November 8: Wear your favorite Christmas hat!
• November 15: Rock your favorite Christmas PJs!
• November 22: Show off your best ugly sweater!
