The City of Baytown honors the life of former Baytown Mayor Pete Alfaro. Pete was first elected in 1989 as Baytown’s first Hispanic mayor. He spent the next 11 years serving the city in that role. He also served on Lee College’s Board of Regents for 17 years and served on other boards and committees.
Mayor Brandon Capetillo, who has a unique bond with Pete, expressed his gratitude saying, “The passing of Pete Alfaro is a huge loss for our entire community. His passion to serve is unmatched and I hope our city can find a way to reflect on his everlasting imprint on our community. My deepest condolences to his wife Lupe and his family.”
Earlier this year, Mayor Capetillo issued a proclamation declaring June 15 as “Pete Alfaro Day in Baytown.” Please join us as we recognize Pete’s legacy to a community that will always be grateful for his contributions.
