Some visitors from Belgium, including the country’s Prime Minister, paid a visit to Baytown this week to open facilities here, bringing another first to our community.
Mayor Brandon Capetillo joined Belgium’s Prime Minister Alexander De Croo and members of the John Cockerill company to announce a new gigafactory in Baytown, becoming the first alkaline electrolyzer gigafactory in the United States. The manufacturing facility will be used to efficiently produce green hydrogen
Prime Minister De Croo said the ribbon cutting “is the first step into deepening the supply chainr between Belgium companies and the Texas Gulf Coast.”
The facility is expected to begin building electrolyzers by the summer and will create 200 jobs, bringing more people to Baytown.
