TxDOT Extends Public Comment about I-10 Improvements

Posted on March 11, 2024 at 10:28 AM by Jason Calder

TXDOT FeedbackThe Texas Department of Transportation is conducting a planning and environmental linkages (PEL) study to seek public input to identify current and future transportation needs, and in developing recommended improvements to I-10 East from I-69/U.S. 59 in Harris County to SH 99 in Chambers County. The public’s voice is necessary in identifying improvement opportunities.

An open house meeting was held in January, but a virtual presentation is still available on TxDOT's website. In fact, the deadline for public comments has been extended until March 15.

Mayor Brandon Capetillo has been part of the process as TxDOT seeks more information. He said, "For the past two years, I have been a voice in a stakeholder committee regarding improvements on the east side of I-10.”

He added, “My priorities for Baytown and this section of I-10 is to make sure the expansion of the San Jacinto bridge fits capacity needs, while making sure the entire east section of I-10 has enough lane space for current and future usage as our city continues to grow."
