The Texas Department of Transportation is conducting a planning and environmental linkages (PEL) study to seek public input to identify current and future transportation needs, and in developing recommended improvements to I-10 East from I-69/U.S. 59 in Harris County to SH 99 in Chambers County. The public’s voice is necessary in identifying improvement opportunities.
An open house meeting will be held January 31 inside the Lee College Performing Arts Center from 5:00pm-7:00pm. The public meeting will be conducted in English and Spanish.
Mayor Brandon Capetillo has been part of the process as TxDOT seeks more information. He said, "For the past two years, I have been a voice in a stakeholder committee regarding improvements on the east side of I-10.”
He added, “My priorities for Baytown and this section of I-10 is to make sure the expansion of the San Jacinto bridge fits capacity needs, while making sure the entire east section of I-10 has enough lane space for current and future usage as our city continues to grow."
If you can’t make the meeting, you can watch a pre-recorded virtual presentation. All comments must be received by February 15, 2024. For any questions, contact Project Manager Stephan Gage at 713-802-5837 or Stephan.Gage@txdot.gov.
